Shukugawa Park has been chosen as one of the 100 best destinations for cherry-blossom viewing in the country. Incredible views can be enjoyed along a 2.8-kilometer stretch running north to south along both sides of the Shuku River, as some 1,660 cherry trees, mostly Yoshino cherries, flower at the same time. The park is also known for the beauty of its blossoming trees at night, and you won’t want to miss a chance to view the branches literally bending under the weight of the flowers as they are bathed in the faint light of streetlamps.
