With a height of 33 meters and a length of 5 meters, this spectacular waterfall has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 best waterfalls. The name of the waterfall comes from the resemblance of the cascading falls to a traditional farming tool called winnowing basket (“mi” in Japanese). It is a famous spot for viewing autumnal leaves. In autumn, the area around the waterfall is painted in the red hues of various maple trees, delighting the eyes of the visitors. Beautiful scenery can be enjoyed all year round, with cherry blossoms blooming in spring and trees cloaked in frost in winter.
